Unruly Man Disrupts The Court During Babu's Owino Bail Application, Hearing Adjourned
The bail application of Embakasi East law maker Babu Owino had to be adjourned after an unruly man disrupted the court while the state prosecutor was making submissions in court. The bail application was made by Babu's lawyers who wanted the law maker released on bail stating that he had two young children and a wife.
The Chief Magistrate Wandanyi instructed that the hearing could not proceed with the rowdy youth making noise in the corridors and immediately instructed the law enforcers to escort the man out of the court."We cannot proceed with this hearing given the noise from the corridors. Now I ask the police to escort those making noise out of the court,” stated Wandayi.
The law maker was arraigned in court on 20th January 2020 for two charges, one being attempted murder of Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Evolve and the second charge was being in possession of a gun while drunk and disorderly. The law maker pleaded not guilty in the two counts and was given a seven days detention and the hearing was set for 27th January 2020.
The family of the DJ has continued to state why the law maker should be denied release on bail stating that bearing in mind his position and influence, they feared for their own safety and that of Felix. The lawyer to the lawmaker proceeded to tell the court that Babu had paid Ksh 600,000 to cater for the treatment of Felix, and they had documents to that effect. Felix spoke for the very first time in his ward regarding the incident. saying he was still on shock and was fearing for his life.
Following the disruption by the rowdy youth, the judge had to post pone the prevail hearing. The rowdy youth had arrived with a group of others who stood in solidarity with the law maker and caused scuffles on the chambers entrance. For now, the accused person will be remanded in custody,"the judge said I instruct the lawmaker to be taken back to custody after the failed pre bail hearings.
