Sonko’s Lawyer Under Investigation On Fraud
Cecil Miller has had it rough after the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission launched investigations on him after allegations of being involved in land fraud. Word has it that the lawyer was illegally paid 252.2 million by the National Lands Commission to compensate him on a Nairobi based parcel of land. This land in question is said to be one among the ones taken by National Lands Commission to create space for the construction of the SGR and by which all the land owners were supposed to be compensated.
The land which was valued at Ksh 241.2 million, the lawyer got a payment of 252.2 million a transaction that was made on the 8th day of January 2019. It is also reported that the National Land Commission acquired 0.12 hectares of land instead of the 0.5 that had been put up for gazettement. The matter has further gone into a twist after a group of valuers and surveyors indicated the value of the parcel of land to be million as opposed to the 241.2 million values that had been placed when NLC was purchasing the land and still ended up paying more money to the lawyer.
The team of valuers and surveyors also established that the parcel of land had been given a higher value by Ksh 233.8 million and that it also sat on a riparian reserve by a major extent of between 4.53 to ten meters and hence the lawyer did not deserve any compensation for that parcel of land. The Nairobi governor also found himself in the limelight being linked to the illegal payment to his lawyer as it was his government that approved the illegal payment knowing totally that the land was a riparian one. This just comes days after assault charges facing him were dropped as the complainant wished and the director of public prosecution issuing a statement that he would get on Sonko’s neck on the graft charges facing him and the now embattled lawyer who was representing the Nairobi boss.
