Raila Labels Ruto A Liar
Raila Odinga, the ODM party leader went ahead and called the deputy president Ruto an unethical person on a TV interview held on NTV.
The former prime minister dismissed the deputy president’s earlier statements that he had gone to consult him for a reunion before he went ahead to the head of state, Uhuru Kenyatta. He went ahead and dismissed claims of having contacted Ruto nor the head of state but stated that there was a team that was working to ensure that he would meet the head of state do away with their differences and bring Kenya together
"The team, who are Kenyans, came and talked to me about sitting down with President Uhuru and I gave them conditions. Ultimately, the conditions were met and we talked. We met just the two of us."Ruto was not part of these negotiations at all and that was why I was surprised when he mentioned that I approached him," stated the former prime minister."That is very unethical. Why would I call Ruto? I never did. That I can swear. I never spoke to William Ruto," he said in April 2019, during an interview that was on Citizen TV the deputy president had said that the then opposition leader Rails Odinga had reached out to him for about four times in a bid for them to reunite but he claimed to have dismissed Raila's advances and went ahead to give reasons as to why he did not agree with Raila then.
"Raila Odinga approached me on four occasions after the elections to have a discussion. I declined to engage the former prime minister. I did not believe that he was doing this in good faith. I was not persuaded that he was doing this in good faith .In Jubilee, we have one central command, President Uhuru Kenyatta is the party leader, he is the president and we all defer to him. If there is any engagement with anybody on matters politics, It has to start with Uhuru," he continued. He said that it was only Uhuru who had the mandate to make any political negotiations as he was the Jubilee party leader.
