NSFAS Students to Receive Funds despite Lockdown in South Africa
As the deadly coronavirus strives to paralyze nations and cripple economies, South Africa isn’t left out and just days into their 21-day lockdown initiative, the government also fights back in a bid to keep the nation is stable condition.
To begin with, the education sector seems to be affected much with its students from Wuhan arriving back after recovery but the students seem to be under perfect care as the minister, Blade Nzimande assures that they will be aided to get home and as the lockdown carries on.
The government is working on ways to enable digital learning thus make good use of the period spent indoors.
Similarly, the minister promised the NSFAS students that their funding won't halt despite the situation with the number of application approvals elevating the toll to 800,000.
On the other hand, the socio-economic sector was also under siege with Lindwe Zulu, the social development minister battling to ease the distress on the citizens. In line with this rehab, centres, devastated communities, old age homes and disabled persons were promised support in such a perilous time.
Lindwe Sisulu, the water and sanitation minister didn’t let the citizens down either and has arranged for 2000 water disbursement points both in the rural and urban to ease water shortage with the eastern cape to receive a larger proportion.
The country is surely under good hands and we hope they see through this disaster.
Meanwhile, stay home, sanitize, maintain social distancing and be safe.
