Narok Senator Hon. Ledama Ole Kina Arrested
The Narok lawmaker has found himself on the
receiving edge of the law, after being arrested over hate speech he is claimed
to have made during a Building Bridges
rally. The senator is said to have uttered the inciting statements during the
weekend, where he claimed that the Maasai community is being oppressed and
sidelined, and that issues pertaining the same tribe should be dealt with
separately from those of non-Maa tribes.
These statements did not sit well with leaders from the central and North Rift regions. The Leaders have argued that the statements by the senator were a form of incitement and division.
Honourable Ole Kina, who was arrested outside the Royal Media services where he had attended an interview, has been taken to the Kilimani police station for interrogation.
The senator is however not alone, as he received support from the ODM leader Raila Odinga, who said that the BBI provides freedom of speech for all, and therefore all Kenyans should freely speak their mind with no judgement.
