More Warnings for the BBI Team
The BBI forum has been crowned by chaos and leaders getting on one another's necks off late. This is especially between the BBI team and the Ruto allied leaders. This has made the county assembly of Nakuru through its deputy speaker Samuel Tonui to issue a stern warning to the leaders attending this forum in Nakuru.
The leaders from Nakuru criticized the behaviors of some of the leaders during the Narok rally where the speech made by the Narok Senator Olekina was termed as divisive and one to bring hatred among the people. They stood their ground to warn anyone who would bring a replica of the Narok rally to Nakuru."When the BBI will be in Nakuru, people should mind their words. We will not allow such word be reiterated anywhere in this country," Tonui warned.
Ole Kina was further condemned over Hate speech on the Maa land ownership saying that land ownership was outlined in the constitution and that the BBI should bring unity not division.
"Our hearts are saddened by the utterances by leaders in this country, I heard them talk of Kedong, that is where we have the dry port, the railway goes through the place, is it to mean that our economy will be derailed by their words? We cannot allow that," the leaders stated.
Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui also criticized some of the statements uttered during the Narok rally "Utterances attributed to a section of leaders during the Narok BBI meeting in relation to non-indigenous landowners and reclaiming land across three counties is retrogressive and ill-informed," Kinyanjui stated.
"The right to ownership of property is guaranteed by the constitution and not a gift from politicians. The days of ethnic mobilization through incitement are long gone. It is most unfortunate that such sentiments come at a time when the nation is seeking to heal the wounds of intolerance and political incitement," he said.
"We are also concerned about leaders who are seeking to hijack the BBI to pursue selfish political agenda that may cause ethnic disharmony. This has led to deliberate distortions to the BBI concept of national inclusion and harmony. We shall not be party to any associations that seek to create a wedge between communities that have lived in harmony for generations," he pronounced.
