Matiangi Takes Over In Uhuru Absentia
The cabinet secretary for interior security Fred Matiangi has opened a two day induction workshop for all the Chief Administrative Secretaries in Nairobi. Taking to his social media, he wrote,” I opened a 2 day induction workshop for all Chief Administrative Secretaries where I delivered H.E the Presidents message on the need to focus on a one government approach for efficient delivery of government services to the public devoid of politicking. I emphasized that this would lead to greater peer accountability, reduction of red tape and foster team oneness. The committee was mandated to supervise the execution of government programs will comprise of all cabinet.”
The new Chief Administrative Secretaries were appointed by the head of state in the recent Cabinet reshuffle exercise on 14th January 2020. Some of the appointees include, Patrick Ole Ntutu in charge of interior and Coordination, Nadia Ahmed Abdalla who will be in charge of Information communication Technology,Lina Chebii Kilimo in charge of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Wavinya Ndeti in charge of Transport and Peter Odoyo in charge of Defense.
On Wednesday marked one year since the appointment of Matiangi as the chairperson to the National Development Implementation and Communication Committee that comprise of all the cabinet secretaries, the Attorney General and the Head of Public Service. He has the mandate to supervise the implementation of the Big Four Agenda and is answerable to the President directly.
This also gave him the mandate to do activities that were previously done by the president or his deputy and that includes chairing cabinet meetings and representing the head of state in and out of the country. He represented the head of state back in h2019 in Mozambique in the signing of the peace accord between the Mozambique president and the opposition group Mozambican National Resistance.
