Landlord Stabs Tenant To Death Due To Ksh 2500 Rent Areas in Kawangware
A tenant in Kawangware is said to have met his untimely death when his landlord stabbed him to death for having a rent arrears of Ksh 2,500. The man identified as Warren Jirongo is said to have owed his landlord Charles Gitau the money before being stabbed to death. The brother to the land lord one John Waweru however gave a contradictory story to the happenings that lead to the death of Warren. He states that Warren had been caught stealing old token kits on Sunday by Charles.
On Monday, Charles went yo ask Warren to return the kits and that's where the started arguing and engaged in a fist match. "When asked why he was stealing the token kits, an argument ensued (On Sunday). On Monday, my brother asked him to return the stolen kits and that's when the fight between the two parties started," Waweru narrated. He adds that other tenants also beat up Warren and licked him up in his house but were alarmed when as they had hit him on the head, but in checking his house, he was found dead.
"By mistake, they hit his head and locked him in his house. On Tuesday, the tenants got worried and went to his house, only to find him dead. The tenants started claiming that my brother was responsible for his death," he added. Residents of Kawangware on learning about the incident that left 26 year old Warren dead, burnt down the said houses to ashes. Waweru went ahead to lament that the houses were left behind by their late parents and that they did not gave any other place to call home.
"These houses were left to us by our parents when they died. We do not have anywhere to live now," Waweru lamented. He added that Charles went hiding after the discovery of the body in Tuesday morning and had not yet resurfaced. The neighbors to Warren termed his as a man who sweated to make his ends meet. Warren was working as a garbage collector in kawangware.
