Kenyan Actor's Love for Gold Landed Him in the Hands of Cons
Ainea Ojiambo a Kenyan actor saw himself land in the hands of conmen unknowingly. He opened up on how he had landed himself squarely in the trap of a con artist. He says this ordeal happened when he was in Mombasa as he had just started working and his love of gold was scaling despite the fact that he had no money to purchase any.
Then he met a man who offered to give him what he desired most, call it need meeting opportunity. A guy who had learnt of Ojiambos secret craving came with an offer to show him some pieces and he went ahead to a corner and shown Ojiambo a gold chain.
There and then, Ojiambo thought that he wanted the chain, the seller telling him that he would gave it for a mere Ksh 20,000 instead of the normal Ksh 80,000. To verify that the piece was gold, the seller burnt it with a cigarette lighter and it retained its colour. The second method was pouring car battery acid on the piece and it still retained its colour upon which Ojiambo was convinced, went to an ATM withdrew Ksh 20,000 and gave to the seller.
His joy of owning a gold chain was beyond measure but only lasted for a few days as the gold came off as he showered with the chain on."I was shocked when I looked in the mirror because the gold was gone, all that was left was some silver thing," Ojiambo expresses. He says that he learnt his lesson from that moment and that he cannot buy any from the streets, keeping his purchasing to the goldsmiths as the old adage goes, once bitten twice shy.
