Kenya Confirms its First Coronavirus Death
Cabinet secretary for health Hon. Mutahi Kagwe through a press release has confirmed the death of a 66 years old patient who has been at Aga Khan Hospital at the intensive care unit.
This is the first case of a confirmed death of a corona patient since the virus was confirmed in the country on 13th march 2020.
The cabinet secretary disclosed that the patient was suffering from Diabetes and that he had arrived in the country on 13th march 2020 from South Africa through Switzerland.
“We have received the sad news of the first patient who had tested positive for coronavirus.The 66-year-old male Kenyan citizen who passed on this afternoon had been admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital Intensive Care Unit”. The statement reads.
“The country currently has 31 confirmed cases with three more also confirmed today. In a press briefing on Thursday, Ministry of Health, Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr Mercy Mwangangi said the three new cases are all Kenyan women aged between 30 and 61 years. Two of the three patients are from Kilifi County and the other one is in Nairobi County”.
