Finally Maraga Opens Up During the Launch of the State Judicial Report
During the launching of the State Judicial Report 2018\2019 the president of the Supreme Court poured his heart out on the incident where he vexed on the executive interference with the Judiciary arm of government. I would be the last person to stand and appear like in am disrespectful to you. I would not talk to the deputy president or the prime minister in such a manner.
I know that I am neither of your class nor theirs. You play from a different and senior league. Mine is on a lower level. With that in mind we need we need to have mutual respect for each other and recognize each other’s positions. I cannot attempt to stand up and ridicule the president. He is not only the head of the executive but also the head of state. H is the commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and a unifying factor in the country. That has to be recognized.” Maraga noted during his speech. He also added that he knew his rightful position in the government and would not stand I the way of then head of state and utter anything disrespectful to him.
He said that he played in the same league as the speaker of the senate or that of the National Assembly and would not disrespect authority. He pleaded with the head of state to look in the budgets cuts in the judiciary that was making it hard for that arm of government to deliver effectively to the citizens. Maraga also said that they were out to curb corruption and had prosecuted several corruption cases successfully.
