DCI Out To Hunt Bodaboda Gang
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation has announced the steps taken by the detectives after an outcry from the residents of Kileleshwa and Kilimani after being gifted with sleepless nights from a group of things operating with bodabodas. The DCI has taken to the social media and announced that the detectives were able to trace the alleged gang and arrested four suspects.Following reports of increased cases of criminals operating on Boda Bodas within Kilimani and Kileleshwa, DCI detectives based at Kilimani mounted an intelligence-led operation where four suspects were arrested," the DCI posted.
Abdul Jafar, Derick Simani, Sadiq Mohamed and Hassan Musa Chepkoech are the members if the gang that the detectives managed to arrest and noting that they will help with the ongoing investigation to unearth the whole crew terrorizing the Kilimani and Kileleshwa residents.the detectives were also able to recover one pistol, motorcycles registration number KMFA 500Z, KMET 389K, and two other numberless ones from the four suspects that they arrested.
Crimes in Nairobi have now shifted course and are now being executed by people in the bodaboda industry. This includes looting of businesses and braking that has been rampant in the city. A research done by National Crime Research Centre, confirms this in their report after the research which part of it read that,"Like the matatu industry that at one time was infiltrated by lethal gangs like Mungiki, there is fear that bodabodas could be heading the matatu route if adequate policy interventions are not implemented in good time."
