Bodaboda Rider Dies after Fleeing From the Police
A boda boda rider roving to Isiolo died on the spot Friday evening after a head-on crash with a lorry at Maili Saba in Meru County. The rider was supposedly running away from police officers applying the ongoing curfew.
And while police claim that the incident occurred before 7pm, a boda boda rider who was behind the doomed one told the press that both were title towards Isiolo when the man, only recognized as Kithinji, was bashed down at around 8:30pm.
He said the dead provision rammed into an approaching lorry as he strained to evade a police vehicle parked in the middle of the road shortly after he had released a passenger.
“The police vehicle was racing us and while the dead was dropping the passenger, it congested him from the front,” said the rider who runaway to evade the wrath of the officers.
Inquisitive residents rushed to the act after hearing a bang but were allegedly barred by the police officers from happening to where the lifeless body was.
Buuri Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Asugo long-established the incident but said the rider butted into the lorry as he was getting into the highway from a feeder road.
