8 Main Reasons Why Unemployment Rates In Ghana Are Very High and Increasing
Poor education curriculum
There is high number of illiterate people in Ghana since the education system does not overlook on the economic concern of the country. The education curriculum in Ghana only focuses on theory lessons rather than practical and professional skills that are actually needed in the market.
Insufficient training facilities
Which impacts the youth with skills that can enable them to come come up with a job that will enable them earn some money rather than always depending on white color jobs in which there are few vacancies in the job market.
High rate of corruption
Embezzlement of funds, where the funds are intended on development of other sectors so as to create job opportunities especially for the youth, the funds are thus used in prosperity of individual rather than the intended people ,thus lagging the development. Due to desperation of people looking for job, especially the youth, It results to increase in immorality such as robbery and prostitution.
High population rate in Ghana
Also impacts in lack of employment since the job vacancies available are less compared to the people who really need the job. This results to increase in poverty levels to people in Ghana and also results to slums which increases the immorality of people due to idles. This results to increase in drug abuse among the youths that resulting to a negative impact to the economy since energy is directed on the wrong side.
Brain drain in Ghana
Due to high unemployment in Ghana citizens, they tend to be more glad offering human resources to other countries other than their own .This makes the country weak economically.
High debt burden
From developed countries where it is unable to pay the debts thus becoming economically unstable thus flourishing of the country. Due to this, there are insufficient jobs for the people since the country mostly concentrates on paying the debts rather than development
Ghana is still not able to fully utilize it natural resources
Therefore Ghana is unable to fully develop It self despite having the resources. This is enhanced by the country not able to purchase machinery which should be used in the development of the country. It is also not able to pay the employees.
Lack of skilled personnel who can undertake specialized jobs
This has been impacted by lack of enough teaching institutions thus even with availability of jobs, there is nobody to do them.
